Welcome to Milliwick

Hello and welcome to Milliwick. Thanks for dropping by.

Milliwick is a soap opera set a small village somewhere in England. Exactly where in England is up to you and your imagination! It’s small, it’s quaint perhaps but it’s hardly what you would call sleepy. As with a village in real life, there is a mix of characters and hopefully they will make you smile, be exasperated occasionally or even downright angry with them. I don’t much mind which as long as I can make you feel as if you know them as their stories unfold.

I’m sure everyone will recognise a few of their traits in somebody they know although, hand on heart, I haven’t had anyone in mind when I’ve created them. Any resemblance between a character and any person living or dead is completely coincidental but if you happen to think to yourself as you read ‘Oh, that sooo reminds me of…’ then I have achieved my aim and they are realistic and true to life. I have my fingers well and truly crossed!

I have been scribbling for my own enjoyment for a couple of years now and the idea behind having a website was for it to be an easy way for friends like you to share my stories and hopefully enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them. I have my favourite characters and I am sure you will too as you get to know them over the coming chapters.

Milliwick is written almost like a script rather than a serial and as with the first episode of a soap opera on television, you will be dropped in the middle of a situation that will probably take a while for you to feel familiar and comfortable with. Please stick with it! Before long you will be ‘switching on’ on Mondays and Thursdays to catch up with what’s happening. You switch on and I will do my best to keep you entertained.

All sites need tweaking occasionally and if you have any suggestions as to how the site could be improved, I will be pleased to receive all comments and ideas or even grumbles and criticisms. I can take it! Please mail me using the tab at the top of the page.
